"Cunt."

Easily one of the most vulgar words in the English language. It's right up there with the "N-word" in the sense that it has the ability to turn heads, raise eyebrows, and extract gasps from people when it is said in a crowded room.

"Tabernacle" is my favorite! "Rigamoroll" is also fun to say ( I probably spelled it wrong...)

I like words with an oo sound. Festoon, pontoon, pantaloons, you get the picture.

serendipity and oblong are good, too, thanks, whoever said them.

Hey Christopher,
On the longest word issue, I chose not to cite pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis ONLY because it is artificial, the word was invented in 1935 by Everett M. Smith, president of the National Puzzlers' League, at its annual meeting. The impression I got is that it was made up to hold the longest word title. Besides, it is a technical word, and if we go as far as to include them, I can go one better -

Methionylthreonylthreonylglutaminylarginyltyrosylglutamyl- serylleucylphenylalanylalanylglutaminylleucyllysylglutamylar-
ginyllysylglutamylglycylalanylphenylalanylvalylprolylphenylalanyl-
valylthreonylleucylglycylaspartylprolylglycylisoleucylglutamyl-
.......amylasparaginylglutaminylglutaminylserxisoleucine. (full chemical name contains 189,819 letters - it is a protein necessary for the constriction of striated muscle.) Spell check says I spelled it wrong - smart-assed program...
But we don't need to try to one up each other now, do we??? ;)
(actually, it is English, but is also considered a verbal chemical formula)

I beg to differ on the longest word contest. If I recall my Webster, the longest word was pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis. That aside, my favorite word is "serendipity".
