What can a quiet man in his fifties do to show team spirit for his basketball team without feeling stupid?

My father is an intelligent but quiet basketball fan in his fifties. Every year he takes me and my sister to a March Madness tournament. We show our support for the team by wearing Mardi Gras beads in the team colors, but my dad won't wear anything like that. Any ideas for what we could get him to wear as a show of team spirit?

How about just a nice shirt in the primary color of your team, or a baseball cap. These are subtle things that even a conservative fan should be okay with.

A sweatshirt or hat would be a good start.

you can ask him to" help" you hold a sign to cheer the team on. you can also ask him to wear very subtle but spirited things, such as one mardi gras necklace or bracelet

have him wear a t-shirt with the favorite teams logo or colors and have him wear that, you don't need to wear stupid beads to support your team just a simple shirt would do.

You could perhaps get him a hat with the team logo or even a simple tshirt. But if he is stubborn about wearing things, you always go the route where you get him a keychain, a car decal, something small, but noticable. Goodluck!!

alright guys wear hats usually so a team hat would be nice. He's not like a girl so hes not going to wear anything flashy like beads. I'd say wearing a team sweatshirt or team jacket as well. The key is to take baby steps and not force him to wear facepaint or anything

my father won't wear anything like that either, he's very conservative. However, we bought him a Chicago Bears sweater for his birthday one year and he's warn it...sadly...almost every day since. It seems that anything comfy works. if it's cold still where you are maybe try a scarf or a stocking cap with a logo and school colors?
