RapeX - the anti-rape condom....

16 answers , last was 16 years ago

I heard about RapeX, a new anti-rape female condom which has been released in South Africa and is on it's way here (may already be for all I know).

This is basically a female condom that has barbs like sharks teeth which will dig into your meat when you take your pee pee out.

I think we all get why it was created, but is anybody else cringing when they think about the few women that will abuse it? Here is a link to the website if you want to check it out....

I believe that this wouldnt really help much because if the guy does rape her, he will most likly just murder her after words to get it off.

I believe all this device will do is reduce the number of rape and runs, while increasing the number of rape and murders by the same amount.

Alright, here is the deal. A female condom is inserted into the vagina and the outer rim lays outside of the labia minora. Thus, the guy would see it and could easily just pull it out, couldn't he? I mean, it isn't superglued in or anything. You really want to reduce rape cases, you need to line the inner flap of your zipper with razor blades and just cut his fingers off. Furthermore, what if he were to pull the condom out, turn it inside out, put it on himself, then rape the girl? I mean, that would be a little worse than just being raped I imagine. My mom just carries a tazer and a .38 in her purse, which seems to keep her pretty safe. I am just saying, this invention does not seem very practical.

Not worried about women abusing it. More worried about women getting murdered once the condom does it's thing.

This thing won't work. I think everyone knows that. The only thing they counted upon is the slight chance that fear of "bite" ;-) can cause reduction of the number of rape cases. That is grasping for a straw the way I see it. It will only make rape cases more violent. About abuse...anything can be abused it has nothing to do with object but the minds of people that abuse them. Guns aren't evil...people that abuse them are.

You know how some things can look good on paper but would be a total failure in practice? Well this condom isn't that. It looks like a failure on paper too.

In the United States of America, 30-50% of women are either molested, sexually abused, or raped before they reach the age of 18. In other places, at other times (especially in times of war) rape can be frighteningly widespread. Until men stop raping women by the millions all over the world, you're going to see things like this get developed. The actual myth in many parts of Africa is that you have to have sex with a VIRGIN to cure yourself of HIV. So these idiots are actually spreading the disease to the women who're most likely to not have it yet. Inventions like the car, while providing many benefits (including life-saving ambulances), also cause both accidents and occasional use by people who deliberately cause harm. We can just hope the many people using new inventions as intended bring about more benefits than the harm caused by the few who abuse them.

Anyone who has the disposition to abuse this product would likely find other means to exact harm, and would be prosecuted like any other person committing assault. This is designed to provide women with some defense against a crime which not only injures the body but also the spirit, and which all too often stigmatizes the victim in society--in some cases the victims are actually murdered by their families as a result, a practice called honor killing. Women in many parts of Africa (and yes, girls too) are raped because of a myth that it can cure the man of HIV. If this device does anything to stop rape, I support it fully.
