I'd go for a chi if you are looking for something brand-name, but I have a sedu and it works just as good as a chi; plus it tends to run a little cheaper.

Now I wake-up in the morning with an afro so it is important to get a good straightener. If you can hold out for a few more months though I've heard that chi is supposed to come out with this brand new straitener that can safely run on even wet hair with no spit ends or hair-frying damage. That will probably be more expensive when it first comes out, but if you pay attention, they will probably have some promo specials and great deals on it.

The only thing I can recomend is to stay away from conair. Most salon style straiteners will get the job done and it really comes down to a matter of preference. Trust me on this one. Conair may be cheap, but it's really not worth it (damage control, not getting hot enough, ect.)

Good Luck!

Buy a chi! It works great and if it ever breaks you can always send it back to the chi manufactures and they fix it or send you another one for a $30 charge. So you'll never again have to spend a 100 for a new straightner for 30 bucks you can replace it whenever it messes up for the rest of your life. Mine broke while I was travelling out of the country, they fixed and it works just as a good as before. I have the chi turbo..it's a little more than the chi but it works great.

GHD staightners are also very good.

Buy the HOT TOOLS straightener. It's one of the first ones that became popular like 8 years ago and you could only buy them in salon stores. Back in the day they used to cost about $100 which was a lot. Now you can find one online for like $30. They work GREAT and last forever. I have to straighten my hair all the time and it's the only one i use. I hate the ceramic ones. It is large too so you can get it done quicker....

yes. i don't have it. but there's a really good ceramic one that's all the rage right now. it's called like a "chia" straightner. it's about half an inch--but it straightens and curls and is supposed to be healthy for you hair. i think it's about 100

anything that's completely cermanic, uses some kind of ions, and has an adjustable temp. i use "infiniti" by "conair". i got mine from wal-mart for about 60 bucks...
when i blow dry my hair, i have an afro. no joke. my friends used to call me "poodle" before i found the right straightener. also, try using john frieda's "frizz-ease hair serum". it keeps hair moisturized without making your hair look greasy or flat, keeps hair shiny, and keeps your hair straight all day and night long.

with the infiniti by con air combined with john frieda, i am unstoppable. my hair is delicious.

Definitely a Chi. I had an "ion" flat iron for about four years, and it worked great. It made my hair bone straight. Recently, I left it at a hotel on accident and was recommended a Chi. I figured I'd go for it, try something different. It's 100 times better than my amazing ion, and that is really good. You can't beat a Chi.
