You can often find a vet who will work with you for some sort of billing plan or at a discounted rate. There are also several places where you can purchase pet health insurance and it's fairly cheap, I think it's like $15/month for each of my cats. This way you only have to pay a small amount out of pocket when you need to take your animal to the vet.

If you care for your pet, you care for its health. If you cannot afford a vet, find an animal hospital that will take in your pet and after healed will put him or her up for adoption. (You will have to surrender the animal-- it takes a lot of love to let go and do what's best for someone else)

Call your vet and tell them straight up you're broke and see if they are willing to work out a payment program. Call the ASPCA and see if they have free or cheap resources.

In many locations, the ASPCA or similar animal protection groups will help with vet bills or even treat the pet themselves for free.

no matter the cost even if I would have to sell something valuable and dear to me I would...because my pet is a memeber of my family and I couldnt just not do anything...and if the vet is nice and understanding sometimes can work out payment plans

max out your credit card and get a second job to pay for it. Remeber it is a family member if it eats at your home.

It depends on what's wrong with it. or I'd take him to a nearby college that has a vet school and they will usually do things for really cheap.
